Rig Moves & Resource Logistics

At the BT Group, we understand the need for detailed planning, sense of urgency, and the need for accuracy during rig moves, not to mention the high cost of delay and loss of revenue when not handled effectively.

Why work with us?

Our BT Rig Moves & Resources division has the equipment, expertise, and safety standards in place and follows a tested approach, namely:

Meeting expectations - At BT, we can draw on many years of experience in rig moves and other resource projects. Thanks to this knowledge and experience, we can make realistic and cost-efficient project plans that you can rely on. We have a track record of satisfied customers in the resources sector, and we strive to not only meet, but exceed customer expectations.

Detailed Planning - A rig move starts with detailed preparations. We create custom-made project plans in close cooperation with our customers, project managers, QHSE Department and field supervisors. We assure our customers their project will be carried out in accordance with government regulations combined with BT Rig Moves & Resources Logistics division's most recent field experiences to meet expectations.

End-to-End Management - Cost of delay is a big concern and is therefore a critical influencing factor of the BT approach to ensure end-to-end management from start to finish. The process of every rig move is documented in a rig move manual, comprising site visits, road inspections, resource planning, procedures, method statements and safety assessments. One of the most important elements of a rig move is transport planning. In most cases, we perform a route planning trip in order to familiarise ourselves with the situation in detail. Then we determine the complete transport planning of a rig, including elements such as types and number of trucks, permit restrictions, etc.

Responsive Co-ordination - Monitoring the progress is a critical component to the BT approach which has a strong focus on outcomes and an uncompromising proactive issue-identification process to avoid problems or delays before they occur.

Best Practices - Working with some of the most exacting companies in the oil industry has given us the experience to offer a set of best practice systems and procedures when it comes to rig moves, making implementation safer and faster.

Tailored Solutions - Although a great deal of effort has been applied to develop best practices, each rig movement is slightly different. Part of the planning process is therefore to identify where customization needs to take place and leverage the local knowledge of our teams.

Post move review - After a rig move, so-called post-move meetings are organized together with our client to evaluate the project. The relevant aspects are updated in the rig-move manuals to close the loop.

Door-to-door service - whether in Australia or the other side of the world BT Rig Moves & Resources Logistics can mobilize state-of-the art equipment for every rig move, such as cranes, trucks, vessels and rigging equipment. For overseas moves, the expertise of our international partners can be used, resulting in best practice door-to-door service.
